Polynucleotide Therapy
Supporting Skin Quality Through Regenerative Treatment
Polynucleotide Therapy is an injectable regenerative treatment increasingly used where the objective is to improve the quality and condition of the skin rather than dramatically alter facial shape. Polynucleotides are purified chains of nucleotides — biological building blocks associated with DNA — and are used within aesthetic medicine for their potential role in supporting tissue repair and skin regeneration.
At YT Medical, Polynucleotide Therapy may be considered for patients concerned about changes in skin texture, elasticity, hydration and general skin quality. The treatment is particularly suited to a regenerative approach where gradual improvement is preferred over conventional volumising treatment.
What Can Polynucleotides Help With?
Polynucleotide treatment may be considered for selected areas where the skin has become thinner, less hydrated or less resilient with age. Depending on the individual product and treatment plan, this can include delicate facial areas where improving tissue quality is the principal objective.
Rather than acting like a traditional dermal filler, polynucleotides are used with the aim of supporting biological processes within the treated tissue. Improvements develop progressively, and the intention is generally to produce a subtle change in skin quality rather than an obvious immediate alteration in volume or facial proportions.
What Does Treatment Involve?
Small amounts of the selected polynucleotide preparation are introduced into the treatment area using an injectable technique appropriate to the anatomy being treated. Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising or small raised areas at injection sites can occur immediately afterwards and generally settle as the product disperses.
Treatment is commonly planned as a course rather than judged after a single appointment. The recommended number of sessions and spacing between treatments will depend on the product, treatment area, baseline skin quality and individual response.
What Results Can I Expect?
Current clinical evidence for polynucleotides is encouraging, with research suggesting potential improvements in areas such as skin texture, elasticity and hydration. However, the evidence base remains smaller than for some longer-established injectable treatments, and treatment techniques and products vary between studies.
Results should therefore be approached realistically. Polynucleotide Therapy cannot stop the ageing process or guarantee a particular degree of improvement, and some concerns may respond more appropriately to another regenerative or aesthetic treatment.
Choosing the Right Regenerative Treatment
Polynucleotides are one of several options available within YT Medical’s Regenerative Medicine department. Depending on your skin and objectives, we may instead discuss PRP, PRF, Sculptra, Hyperdilute Biostimulation or an energy-based treatment.
The aim is to recommend the treatment that best matches the underlying concern rather than selecting a procedure simply because it is currently popular.
