Frequently Asked Questions
Common Questions About YT Medical
This page answers some of the questions patients commonly ask before arranging a consultation or treatment at YT Medical. Individual procedures have their own requirements, so any specific preparation, recovery or medical advice relating to your treatment will be explained as part of your consultation.
Do I Need a Consultation Before Treatment?
Many YT Medical services require a consultation before treatment can proceed. This allows us to understand your concern, review relevant medical history, assess suitability and explain the available options, limitations and potential risks.
Some straightforward services may follow a simpler appointment pathway, but treatment will not proceed where an appropriate assessment has not been completed.
Are Treatments Available on a Walk-In Basis?
YT Medical operates primarily by appointment. Published opening or contact hours indicate when the clinic can be contacted or appointments may be available, but they should not be interpreted as a guarantee that a particular treatment can be provided without booking.
We recommend contacting the clinic in advance so that the correct type of appointment and adequate time can be allocated.
How Do I Know Which Treatment to Book?
You do not always need to know. If you understand what you would like to improve but are unsure which procedure is appropriate, book a consultation for the relevant department rather than selecting a treatment based solely on its name.
For example, somebody concerned about under-eye ageing may have hollowing, skin-quality changes, pigmentation, puffiness or a combination of these. Each can require a different approach.
Will I Be Treated at My Consultation?
This depends on the service. Some procedures may be possible following assessment where it is clinically appropriate and all necessary requirements have been met. Others require a separate treatment appointment, cooling-off period, patch test, blood results, prescription process or additional preparation.
You will be advised of the pathway when booking.
Do You Offer Patch Testing for Laser Treatments?
Patch testing may be required before selected laser procedures. This allows the skin response and proposed treatment settings to be assessed before a larger area is treated.
The requirement depends on the technology, treatment and individual circumstances.
How Many Treatments Will I Need?
There is no universal answer. Laser Hair Removal, regenerative treatments, scar procedures, skin treatments and hair-restoration programmes all have different treatment schedules, and response varies between patients.
Where a course is recommended, we will explain the expected number of sessions and review progress rather than guaranteeing a particular outcome in advance.
Can You Guarantee My Results?
No medical or aesthetic treatment can guarantee a specific result. Outcomes depend on the condition being treated, anatomy, skin or hair characteristics, individual biology, adherence to aftercare and many other factors.
Our aim is to explain what improvement is realistically possible before treatment so that you can decide whether the expected benefit is worthwhile.
What If I Am Taking Medication?
Please tell us about all relevant prescription medication, over-the-counter medicines and supplements during your consultation. Some medicines can affect suitability, bleeding, healing, photosensitivity or the interpretation of blood-test results.
Do not stop prescribed medication solely to undergo an elective treatment unless you have been advised to do so by the appropriate healthcare professional.
What If I Am Pregnant or Breastfeeding?
Pregnancy or breastfeeding can affect whether particular elective procedures, medicines or investigations are appropriate. Please tell the clinic when booking or during consultation so that suitable advice can be given.
Treatment may need to be postponed depending on the procedure involved.
Do You Treat Patients Under 18?
Eligibility depends on the service, the patient’s age and the reason treatment is being considered. Certain cosmetic procedures are restricted by law for under-18s, while other clinical services may have their own age requirements.
Please contact YT Medical before booking treatment for anybody under 18 so that the appropriate pathway can be confirmed.
Do You Provide Prescription Treatments?
Prescription medicines may be considered within selected YT Medical pathways, but only following the appropriate clinical assessment and prescribing process. They are not supplied simply because a patient requests a particular medicine.
The prescriber must determine whether treatment is appropriate based on individual circumstances, potential benefit, contraindications and risk.
What Should I Do If I Develop a Problem After Treatment?
Follow the aftercare and contact information provided with your treatment. If you are concerned about an unexpected reaction or complication, contact YT Medical promptly so that appropriate advice can be provided.
Where symptoms indicate a medical emergency, urgent NHS care should be sought rather than waiting for a routine clinic response.
Where Can I Find More Detailed Treatment Information?
Every major YT Medical service has its own page explaining the treatment, suitability, likely recovery and realistic expectations. The Knowledge Hub also contains additional educational articles covering many of the conditions and treatments available through the clinic.
