Supporting Cellular Processes Through a Measured Approach

NAD+, or nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, is a naturally occurring coenzyme found throughout the body. It plays an important role in processes involved in cellular energy production, metabolism and normal cell function, and levels can be influenced by age and other biological factors. These functions have led to growing interest in NAD+ supplementation and intravenous NAD+ therapy within the wellness sector.

At YT Medical, NAD+ Therapy is approached carefully and without making claims that extend beyond the current evidence. Although NAD+ biology is an active area of scientific research, this does not mean that intravenous NAD+ has been proven to reverse ageing, dramatically increase energy, improve cognitive performance or prevent disease in otherwise healthy individuals.

What Does NAD+ Therapy Involve?

Where treatment is considered appropriate, NAD+ is administered intravenously through a cannula over a controlled period. Intravenous administration allows the preparation to enter the circulation directly, although this alone does not establish that it will provide a particular wellness benefit.

Before treatment, we review your medical history, current medication, reasons for seeking treatment and any relevant health concerns. If symptoms such as persistent fatigue, weakness or changes in wellbeing are the reason for considering NAD+, diagnostic investigation may sometimes be more useful before beginning an elective infusion programme.

The YT Medical Diagnostics department can support assessment where concerns involving general health, thyroid function, hormones, nutritional status or other measurable factors require further investigation.

What Does the Evidence Show?

NAD+ metabolism is scientifically important and treatments designed to influence NAD+ levels continue to be investigated. However, the human evidence for intravenous NAD+ specifically as an anti-ageing or general wellness treatment remains limited, and many of the benefits discussed commercially are based on biological theory, laboratory findings or research involving NAD+ precursors rather than strong clinical evidence for IV NAD+ itself.

More recent human studies have provided useful information about tolerability and short-term physiological effects, but larger and longer-term trials are still needed to establish whether intravenous treatment produces meaningful and sustained wellness benefits.

YT Medical therefore presents NAD+ as an elective wellness treatment with an evolving evidence base rather than a proven method of reversing biological ageing.

Treatment, Recovery and Safety

An intravenous cannula is placed into a suitable vein and the NAD+ preparation is administered according to the selected protocol. Some patients can experience discomfort during NAD+ infusion, and the rate may need to be adjusted according to individual tolerance.

As with any intravenous procedure, possible risks include bruising, bleeding, infection, irritation of the vein and reactions to the administered preparation. Medical history, treatment formulation and appropriate monitoring are therefore important even where the purpose of treatment is elective wellness rather than management of illness.

Is NAD+ Therapy Right for Me?

Interest in healthy ageing and cellular health is understandable, but no single infusion can replace sleep, nutrition, physical activity, appropriate medical care and investigation of unexplained symptoms. NAD+ Therapy may be considered as one part of an individual wellness programme for suitable patients who understand the limitations of the available evidence.

Your consultation provides an opportunity to discuss why you are considering treatment and whether NAD+, another Wellness service or further investigation is the most appropriate next step.
