Ultrasound Cavitation & Radiofrequency Body Contouring

Combining Fat-Contouring and Skin-Firming Technologies

Ultrasound Cavitation and Radiofrequency Body Contouring combine two non-invasive technologies within a treatment programme for selected patients concerned about localised subcutaneous fat, body contour and reduced skin firmness.

The two technologies have different treatment objectives. Ultrasound Cavitation is directed towards selected areas of superficial fatty tissue, while Radiofrequency treatment produces controlled heating within the skin and underlying tissue with the aim of supporting collagen remodelling and improving firmness. Using them together allows both the volume beneath the skin and the quality of the overlying tissue to be considered.

At YT Medical, body-contouring treatment is personalised according to the area, skin condition, amount of localised fat and realistic degree of change that can be achieved without surgery.

How Does Ultrasound Cavitation Work?

Ultrasound Cavitation uses low-frequency ultrasound energy delivered through an external applicator. The acoustic energy produces mechanical effects within selected subcutaneous tissue and is used in non-invasive body contouring with the aim of reducing the thickness or circumference of small, localised fatty areas.

It should not be confused with weight-loss treatment or surgical liposuction. The intended changes are considerably more modest, and treatment is most appropriate where there is a clearly defined area of superficial fat rather than substantial generalised excess weight.

What Does Radiofrequency Add?

Radiofrequency treatment delivers controlled energy that heats selected tissue beneath the skin while the surface is monitored and protected. The thermal response can influence existing collagen and stimulate longer-term remodelling, which may help improve the appearance of mild laxity, texture and skin firmness.

This can be useful after localised contouring because reducing fullness without considering the overlying skin may not always produce the most aesthetically balanced outcome.

RF treatment is not capable of removing significant excess skin. Where laxity is substantial, another tightening treatment or surgical assessment may provide a more realistic degree of correction.

Which Areas Can Be Treated?

Depending on individual assessment, treatment may be considered across areas such as the abdomen, waist, hips, thighs, buttocks and upper arms.

Before treatment, we assess whether the concern is predominantly caused by superficial fat, skin laxity or another anatomical factor. Patients with deeper visceral abdominal fat, for example, will not achieve meaningful reduction of this tissue through external cavitation treatment.

What Happens During Treatment?

A conductive medium is applied before the appropriate applicator is moved systematically across the selected area. Ultrasound treatment may create an unusual sound or sensation, while Radiofrequency typically feels progressively warm as the tissue reaches the planned treatment temperature.

Temporary warmth or redness can occur afterwards. A course is commonly recommended because both contour changes and collagen remodelling develop progressively. The exact programme depends on the treatment area and response.

Realistic Body-Contouring Results

Non-invasive body contouring can provide improvement for selected patients, but results are generally subtle compared with surgical fat removal. A healthy lifestyle and relatively stable body weight remain important before and after treatment.

The aim is to refine particular areas rather than use the treatment as a method for managing obesity or producing major weight loss.
