Skin Mesotherapy
Targeted Microinjections for Skin Quality
Skin Mesotherapy is an injectable treatment technique in which small quantities of a selected preparation are introduced through multiple superficial injections across the skin. Rather than describing one specific product, the term Mesotherapy refers principally to the method of delivery, meaning the ingredients and treatment objectives can vary between different protocols.
Within aesthetic medicine, Mesotherapy may use preparations designed to support hydration and skin quality, including selected formulations containing non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid or other ingredients appropriate to the treatment being performed. At YT Medical, the exact preparation should always be selected according to the patient’s skin and explained clearly before treatment.
What Can Skin Mesotherapy Help With?
Skin Mesotherapy may be considered for patients concerned about dehydration, dullness, fine textural changes and a general decline in skin quality. The objective is typically subtle rejuvenation rather than dramatic alteration of facial shape or replacement of significant lost volume.
Where a hyaluronic-acid-based preparation is selected, treatment may help improve hydration and aspects of skin texture. Mesotherapy should not, however, be confused with structural Dermal Filler. The formulations and injection techniques are different, and treatment is generally distributed superficially across a broader area rather than used to reshape a facial feature.
Patients with deeper wrinkles, significant laxity, established acne scarring or substantial volume loss may require a different approach such as RF Microneedling, regenerative biostimulation, laser treatment or carefully selected dermal filler.
What Does Treatment Involve?
Following assessment and skin preparation, multiple small injections are placed across the selected treatment area according to the product and protocol being used. This may create temporary small raised areas immediately following treatment as the preparation settles within the skin.
Redness, tenderness, swelling and bruising can occur around injection points, and the skin may feel temporarily sensitive. These reactions typically improve as the area settles, although the precise recovery depends on the formulation and treatment technique.
Mesotherapy is commonly undertaken as a course where progressive improvement in skin quality is desired, with treatment frequency determined by the specific product and individual response.
Mesotherapy Is Not One Standard Treatment
Because the term Mesotherapy covers a wide variety of injectable preparations, evidence for one formulation cannot automatically be applied to every product described as Mesotherapy. Research into hyaluronic-acid-based facial Mesotherapy has produced encouraging results for skin rejuvenation, while broader reviews have highlighted considerable variation in products, protocols and the overall quality of evidence.
For this reason, YT Medical does not describe Mesotherapy simply as a generic cocktail of vitamins or make broad claims about detoxification, reversing ageing or permanently restoring youthful skin. Patients should know exactly what is being administered and why that particular preparation has been selected.
Risks and Safety
Mesotherapy involves repeated injections and therefore carries risks beyond temporary redness or bruising. Possible complications include infection, inflammatory reactions, persistent nodules, allergic reactions and unwanted pigmentation or scarring. Uncommon but significant infections have been documented following poorly controlled Mesotherapy procedures, reinforcing the importance of sterile technique and appropriate injectable products.
Medical history, allergies, medication and previous reactions should therefore be discussed before treatment begins.
Mesotherapy or Another Skin Treatment?
Patients seeking improved skin hydration and quality now have several treatment options, including Skin Boosters, Profhilo, Sunekos, Polynucleotides, PRP, PRF and Mesotherapy. These should not be treated as interchangeable simply because all involve injections.
Your YT Medical consultation allows the different approaches to be compared according to your skin, desired outcome and the strength of the evidence supporting the proposed treatment.
