PRF Facial Rejuvenation
A Fibrin-Rich Approach to Facial Regeneration
PRF Facial Rejuvenation uses Platelet-Rich Fibrin prepared from the patient’s own blood as part of a regenerative approach to improving skin quality. PRF shares some principles with PRP but is prepared differently, producing a fibrin-rich matrix containing platelets and other naturally occurring blood components.
This makes PRF an increasingly popular option within regenerative aesthetics for patients seeking gradual improvements rather than conventional volumising treatment. At YT Medical, it may be considered where the objective is to support skin texture, tissue quality and selected age-related changes while maintaining a natural appearance.
How Does PRF Differ From PRP?
Both treatments begin with a sample of the patient’s blood and use centrifugation to create a concentrated regenerative preparation. Conventional PRP produces a more fluid platelet-rich plasma, while PRF creates a fibrin-rich preparation in which platelets and other cellular components are retained within a natural matrix.
Neither approach is automatically superior. PRP has a larger and more established body of research across many regenerative applications, while injectable PRF has an emerging evidence base within facial rejuvenation. The choice between them depends on the area being treated, the desired treatment characteristics and the wider objectives of the patient.
What Can PRF Facial Rejuvenation Address?
PRF may be considered for selected patients concerned about changes in skin quality, fine lines, texture or delicate facial areas where a regenerative approach is preferred. It has attracted particular interest for rejuvenation around the eye area, although suitability depends on whether the concern is related to skin quality, hollowing, pigmentation, puffiness or another underlying factor.
This distinction is important because not every under-eye concern should be treated with an injectable procedure. Assessment of the surrounding anatomy and skin is required before deciding whether PRF is likely to provide a worthwhile improvement.
Treatment and Recovery
A blood sample is taken and processed using a specialist centrifuge before the resulting PRF preparation is introduced into the selected treatment area. Temporary swelling, redness, tenderness and bruising can occur following treatment, particularly in delicate areas of the face.
Regenerative changes develop gradually, and treatment may be planned as a course where appropriate. Current research suggests potential improvements in aspects of skin texture and fine wrinkles, although study sizes remain relatively modest and techniques vary. For this reason, individual response cannot be predicted precisely.
Choosing the Right Regenerative Treatment
PRF sits alongside PRP, Polynucleotides, biostimulatory injectables and other regenerative treatments available at YT Medical. The appropriate option depends on what the patient wants to improve and which biological or structural changes are contributing to the concern.
Our approach is to select treatment according to the individual rather than automatically recommending the newest or most intensive procedure.
