Targeted Treatment for Small Areas of Localised Fat

Fat Dissolving treatment uses injectable products designed to disrupt fat cells within carefully selected areas of localised subcutaneous fat. The treatment is intended for body contouring rather than weight loss and is most appropriate for patients who are generally close to a stable weight but have a smaller area of fat that remains resistant to lifestyle changes.

At YT Medical, treatment begins with assessment of the area and an honest discussion of whether an injectable approach is likely to provide a worthwhile result. Loose skin, visceral fat, larger areas of excess weight and some forms of body contour concern will not be corrected simply by injecting a fat-dissolving product, and another treatment or wider weight-management approach may sometimes be more appropriate.

Which Areas Can Be Considered?

Suitability depends on the specific product being used and the patient’s anatomy. Small localised deposits beneath the chin or in selected areas of the body may be considered where there is sufficient subcutaneous fat and treatment can be performed safely.

Before proceeding, we assess the amount and distribution of fat, skin quality, underlying structures, medical history and the result the patient hopes to achieve. Where the apparent fullness is caused mainly by skin laxity, muscle anatomy or another underlying structure, fat reduction alone may produce little benefit or could potentially make laxity more noticeable.

What Does Treatment Involve?

The selected area is marked before multiple small injections are placed according to the treatment protocol and product being used. The treatment initiates a local inflammatory response as affected fat cells are disrupted and subsequently cleared from the area over time.

Swelling can be significant following some fat-dissolving treatments and may persist for a period after the procedure. Bruising, tenderness, redness, firmness, numbness or temporary changes in sensation can also occur. The specific product, expected recovery and potential complications will be explained before treatment.

Results and Treatment Courses

Fat reduction develops gradually rather than immediately after injection. More than one session may be required depending on the treatment area, amount of localised fat and individual response, with adequate time allowed between treatments to assess progress.

Fat Dissolving should not be regarded as an alternative to maintaining a healthy weight or as a method for treating obesity. Weight gain can also affect body contour after treatment, so maintaining a relatively stable weight remains important for preserving the overall result.

Is Fat Dissolving Right for Me?

Not every localised contour concern requires fat reduction. Depending on the assessment, another approach may be more appropriate where skin laxity or broader weight-management concerns are more significant.

Your YT Medical consultation allows us to assess the area properly, explain the exact product being considered and determine whether the potential improvement justifies the treatment and recovery involved.
